Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to use it is another question, as there's only one Springfield vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to face off behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed car the patriarch built himself in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous truck showcased in the tenth season. Rather, fans will obtain the family's everyday well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole customization item from the show coming to Rocket League. This limited-time event will additionally feature a set of challenges to earn additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task players to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems fans will also receive wheels with a TV displaying the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the extensive Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which brings a brand-new playable area of Springfield, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
