Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Way Too Hard

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Players have started using custom matches created through the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how grueling these assignments have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. There are four types of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one main guns available in the game.

Some of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

One more community participant pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

However, there is a solution: the portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are made easier in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

Currently, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
